Alizée, triangle bikini top [Presentation article]

Today, it’s Alizée’s turn to reveal itself to you!

A triangle bikini top, it was obvious: Étoffe Malicieuse had to offer one!

Obviously (you’re beginning to know me!), Alizée includes several variants.

ALIZÉE

Patterns available from 32 to 50

The basic version of Alizée is a simple gathered triangle:

Alizée

This variation immediately brings out a pretty lycra.
Here’s a beautiful Liberty lycra contrasting with a plain navy blue lycra (I’ll give you all the addresses of the fabrics I used in a separate article at the end of the new pattern presentations).

Alizée and Délice

Alizée goes very well with any bikini bottom, as you can see here with Neptune shorty bikini bottom (coming out tomorrow):

Alizée simple triangle can also lend itself to a little embroidery on the turns of cups:

Alizée

It will be the little touch of personality: the uniqueness of YOUR jersey!

Alizée et Délice

I used DMC embroidery thread, the kind you use for cross-stitching. I already tested it last year and this thread is perfect because it keeps its colors (at least for a summer!).

Alizée

Like the accompanying Délice panties, I finished the neck and back ties with tassels.

Alizée and Délice

Here is the version “with band”: Alizée is adorned with a yoke under the cup that allows a second bust measurement.

I tied the underbust tie in the front, but of course you can tie it in the back if you prefer.

Alizée

The triangles being gathered, you will be able to tighten your cups to avoid the nasty traces of tanning:

Or close the cups as much as possible to avoid unwanted “nipple show-off”!

Alizée

I loved sewing this version. I paired it with Oasis the high waisted bikini bottom. I think it has a nice vintage feel to it.

Choose the bottom that suits you best! Here you can also see another version of Neptune shorty (variant with gathered sides) which reminds the ties of Alizée :

Alizée also caters for women who do not wish to show their belly:

Alizée’s tankini version can even be lengthened a bit to turn into a dress. Feel free to make the pattern your own!

Unfortunately, I can’t show you the flounces version yet: because of the confinement, I couldn’t finish sewing it.
I’m waiting for the re-opening of the Rascol lycra store to finally show you this version!

Alizée version tankini

Alizée is designed for a B cup. If you are a smaller cup, there is no problem: the gathers will be just a little more present on the triangles. If you are a C cup, you will just have to cut one size larger than the one recommended in the measurement chart provided with the explanations.

For a D cup: Alizée was tested in D cup, and very sincerely the test was not conclusive because the triangle cup does not bring enough support.

For each version of Alizée, you will have the possibility to slip foam cups inside your cups.

I hope you like Alizée and all her variations and that you start to project yourself in a nice handmade swimsuit for this summer!

What’s in the download:

Étoffe Malicieuse is here to guide you as closely as possible to your expectations.

That why, the folder you will download contains several documents:

  • An interactive instructions booklet illustrated with numerous clear diagrams (to find out more, click HERE)
  • The pattern in A4/US letter format that you can print directly at home.

The pattern is given with AND without seam allowances. Thanks to the layer system, you can choose!
If you choose to print the pattern without seam allowances, everything is carefully explained in the booklet to add the seam allowances according to the finishes techniques you want to use.

Please note: for lingerie, very few sheets are required. So don’t be afraid to cut and assemble the pattern: it will be very quick to do!

The size lines are made up of different colours, but also different line styles, so you can print in black and white without any worries!

The patterns are layered which allow you to choose which sizes you want to print.

You can read the article about this specificity of the Étoffe Malicieuse patterns HERE.

There is also a short video that will show you how to use layers is available on the Youtube channel: Étoffe Malicieuse channel

  • A “printing the pattern” helper

This part will tell you how to use the layers, how to set up your printer, which pages to print according to the chosen variant…

  • A “Stitches and settings” section

This part of the explanations will detail the different stitches used in swimsuit sewing.

As the construction progresses, you will also find the small tag giving you indications on which stitch to use.

Sewing level

Contrary to popular belief, all you need is a simple sewing machine with a zig-zag stitch.

The construction instructions have been written as clearly as possible. They will guide you step by step with the help of numerous clear diagrams to enable even total beginners to sew their panties.

Alizée is a project that everyone can get on. Once again, it is a matter of trusting yourself and daring to take the plunge!

Tested!

As usual, the pattern has been tested, the explanations have been read and re-read…

For this pattern, beginners in swimsuit sewing were called in (as always), as well as seamstresses more accustomed to sewing.

A big thank you to this great team of testers! THANK YOU for your help!
