Neptune, the shorty bikini bottom [Presentation article]

Neptune is the story of a friend of mine who told me that she could never find shorty swimsuit bottoms.

So she told me her requirements, I drafted the pattern according to her requests.

In her desires, there was of course the fit of the panties, but she also wanted a waistband… a WIDE waistband! To be as comfortable as possible!

I added some variations: with and witout gathers, with loops and a tie…

NEPTUNE

Patterns available from 32 to 50

The basic version of Neptune is a simple shorty bikini:

As you can see, the bikini has a nice coverage on the front and the back.

The version with gathers will allow you to obtain a pretty effect on the sides:

It will be the original touch of YOUR shirt!

The ties on the sides can be more or less tight depending on the desired effect.

The pictures are taken close up to show you that the buttocks are still pretty well covered:

Neptune and Alizée are a perfect match, the ties on the sides of Neptune recalling those of Alizée the high triangle:

Here is another version of Neptune: a wide waistband with loops that accommodate a decorative tie:

Don’t hesitate to adorn your tie ends with pompoms (as I already showed you for the orange version of Alizée). You can also add beads, or simply make a bow like here:

This version allowed me to use my very small liberty lycra scraps that I absolutely did not want to throw away!

You can’t see it, but the tie is composed of about ten small remnants 😉 Nothing is lost !

Here is Neptune with a waistband and gathers:

This version allows you to play with the colors and/or patterns, the ties reminding the belt.

Here too, I have tightened the ties as much as possible. You are free to tighten them more or less according to your preferences.

The pattern is given with AND without seam allowances. Thanks to the layer system, you can choose!
If you choose to print the pattern without seam allowances, everything is carefully explained in the booklet to add the seam allowances according to the finishes techniques you want to use.

Please note: for lingerie, very few sheets are required. So don’t be afraid to cut and assemble the pattern: it will be very quick to do!

The size lines are made up of different colours, but also different line styles, so you can print in black and white without any worries!

The patterns are layered which allow you to choose which sizes you want to print.

• A “printing the pattern” helper

This part will tell you how to use the layers, how to set up your printer, which pages to print according to the chosen variant…

• A “Stitches and settings” section

This part of the explanations will detail the different stitches used in swimsuit sewing.

As the construction progresses, you will also find the small tag giving you indications on which stitch to use.

Sewing level

Contrary to popular belief, all you need is a simple sewing machine with a zig-zag stitch.

The construction instructions have been written as clearly as possible. They will guide you step by step with the help of numerous clear diagrams to enable even total beginners to sew their panties.

Neptune is a project that everyone can get on. Once again, it is a matter of trusting yourself and daring to take the plunge!

Tested!

As usual, the pattern has been tested, the explanations have been read and re-read…

For this pattern, beginners in swimsuit sewing were called in (as always), as well as seamstresses more accustomed to sewing.
