Poéma woman swimsuit [Presentation article]

Hi everybody!

Here it is, here it is! Poéma version for women is unveiled today!

After the release of the Poéma girls swimsuit last summer, many of you asked me if the model would be available in a woman version.

Remember: Poema girls swimsuit had been designed with the help of Sarah (atelier.miinsa). I then did my job of pattern making and explanations to get this nice jersey:

One year later, here it is in a woman version!

I have sewn two versions which I present to you below.

Of course, there are many other possibilities as shown in the diagram above.

Especially when it comes to flounces, you’ll have a lot of fun!

The first version was sewn with a beautiful lycra from Stragier. You can find it on their website, in the bathing category: it is the lycra UNE alpha Azur.

Not only do I think this lycra is beautiful, but it contains 85% recycled polyester, so I couldn’t resist bringing it to life with Poema!

Poema’s cups are rounded on top for a nice cleavage, then cross over to the middle front of the swimsuit.

Here, I sewed the underbust band in the same fabric as the flounces as a reminder:

The back of the first version has a drop and a V-shaped neckline.

With the pattern, you will have access to an adaptation sheet.

It will allow you to sew your swimsuit to YOUR measurements, even adapting the length of the suit.

Your swimsuit will fit you perfectly, whether you are tall or short, thin or curvy, it doesn’t matter: everything has been planned so that you can adapt the model!

Poema’s cups are gathered to give volume.

In tests, Poema was approved up to an E cup. So you can sew it whether you’re doing an A, B, C, D or E cup!

For cups larger than E, I have a tutorial planned that I will post in a few days so you can adjust the cup to your own cup volume.

The little flounces on the shoulders are very useful to avoid getting sunburned on the right side!

The drop in the back topped by the V neckline makes all the originality of this variant.

Here is the second version: the one with the rounded back.

To sew this version, I used lycra from La Panda Love Fabric.

This is the Jersey Sport rPET quality, which is made of 80% recycled polyester 😉

I really wanted to sew the flounces along the neckline for this version!

You may have noticed that the flounces on the women’s version are wider than those on the children’s pattern.

The straps cross over the back, letting the flounces enliven the whole!

You can’t see it on the pictures because they are hidden under the flounces, but Poema’s straps are wide: they are thus more comfortable than thin ones, and won’t hurt you.

I haven’t told you yet about the cut of the swimsuit: as you can see in this picture, Poema has been designed with a medium cut.

By that I mean it’s a leg opening that covers the front and back well, without being too pronounced.

I hope you like this new pattern, I can’t wait to see your creations!
