Marin swim trunks [Presentation article]
Last year, I unveiled swimsuit “Embrun”. First for boys, then for men.
This year, it was obvious to me I had to propose a swim trunk model.
As a matter of fact, I sewed these swim trunks on Easter 2018.
I wanted them to be tested during a whole summer in many different conditions so as to be sure they are comfortable and aquatic sports compatible.
As you can you see the test was successful!
Marin, the swim trunks
Available from 2 to 12 years old and from 3XS to 4XL
Thanks to PDF layers, we supply within a single file both patterns including seam allowance and patterns without seam allowance.
Marin are swim trunks that goes down to above the knees.
This week, I’ll post a tutorial to tell you how to sew MARIN with a specific length so that you can shorten or lengthen it.
The waistband is really easy to set up. It’s made up with an elastic band.
Marin, the swim trunks features a fake fly closure: there is no zipper to sew.
The front of the waistband is decorated with two pieces of fabrics connected with a drawstring.
Marin are REAL swim trunks: they embed briefs that can uphold every part of the human body.
Your son or your husband won’t be reluctant to bend down, lean over, jump, dance… Everything will be held in place 😉
Marin, the swim trunks are perfect on the beach! (at the swimming pool, I’d rather recommend Embrun since often times swim trunks are forbidden)
Marin, the swim trunks are available in child size but also adult size: why wouldn’t you sew both?
Inner finishing compete with the one of swim trunks you’ll find in shops.
The fabrics used for Marin are specific: I explain everything in the digital booklet sent with the pattern. I also talk about the elastics of the inner briefs.
MARIN is made up with very few different parts. It can be made up very quickly. Overwhelmed mums will find it perfect for an easing sewing afternoon.
Photos were shot last year near Fouras by the ocean.
I hope that you’ll like this new pattern, and that you’ll have fun sewing it.
1,2,3… Go!
The first one in the water is the winner!

If you already known Étoffe Malicieuse’s patterns and you’re eager to sew Marin, you only need to click the button below:
If you’re not used to the specific features of Étoffe Malicieuse’s patterns, read what’s next:
What will you actually download?
1. An interactive digital user guide showing many figures (you can learn more HERE)
You’ll find out how to use the pattern layers, how to set up your printer…
2. The pattern itself in A4/US letter format. It’s easily printable with any printer.
The different size shapes are drawn with specific colors and patterns: you can print them in black and white without any problem!
What’s fun with PDF: as soon as you order it, you can print it and then sew it!
Don’t worry: Marin is a simple pattern, you’ll only need to print a few pages.
Patterns are drawn on layers making it possible to choose what you want to print: you choose which sizes are printed.
Patterns are supplied with AND without seam allowance: once more, you decide (thanks to the layer system) what you want to print!
If you want to know more about this specific feature, you can read my post on the blog HERE.
Sewing skills
The assembly instructions were written as clear as possible. They will lead you, step by step, with many digital figures. There is nothing difficult with Marin except for setting the elastics on the inner briefs.
Fabrics
You should sew Marin with swim trunk specific fabrics. I’ll tell more in a later post (including some eshop references).
Tested!
The patterns were tested, the instructions read over and over again…
Thanks a lot to my testing team!
Don’t forget to use #patronmarin, #patronetoffemalicieuse on Instagram so I can see your makings.
Every month, I choose one of your post (shared with #etoffemalicieuse). The chosen one will get a free pattern as a gift.
Have a nice day and see you soon!
Génial, ce nouveau duo. Bravo !
