Once more, this pattern kindled desire… and I’m very happy to unveil it:

For the anecdote, DIAMANT was born because I wanted to make it possible for every woman to sew her own lingerie. It’s the logical follow-up of the panties Caresse, and of the new version of the “petites culottes” now available up to size 64.

I really wanted to propose a collection where everyone could find a model which felt good to be in from morning till night.

Wait! it’s not over… I also wanted DIAMANT to be wearable even WITHOUT underwire or side bones.

Obviously, it is less efficient “keeping everything up” though it’s no problem wearing it all day long. One of my tester do so by the way.

Designing DIAMANT, I was thinking of every woman who had breast surgery and can’t wear underwire bra any more.

My cousin is one of them and, with her large breast, she’s often told me how hard it is to find a nice model that would make her look like her granny. Not to mention the prices (often unaffordable) in lingerie shops.

DIAMANT is the achievement of this long walk. I hope that you’ll like it and that you’ll have fun sewing it, and tweaking it in many ways!

The cups of DIAMANT are made up of 3 pieces: you can then try different colors and materials combination. The upper part of a cup is made of lace which adds a nice feminine touch.

Technically, a cup made with 3 parts provides a better support. It’s actually possible to better shape the breast thanks to cuttings.

The back of DIAMANT is a “dos nageur” (“swimming” back): it means the straps are sawn on a short length with the back of the bra (whereas on models designed for smaller breasts, only the edge are sewn).

This small detail matters: it gives better support so that breast can feel comfortable.

DIAMANT can be worn with “Caresse la culotte haute”, drop-shaped back version, as you can see on the photo below.

I find these two models match very well!

The hardest part with sewing bras is taking the correct measurements so as to get the right bra size.

The method to take measurements proposed by Étoffe Malicieuse since the release of Bijou is a bit different from the one usually used by other designers. It makes it possible to measure each breast independently from the other one, and therefore to sew bras with cups of different sizes.

You will find in the downloaded folder, a method that will guide you to cut DIAMANT with two different cup sizes.

I had already written a card when releasing Bijou. I noticed how useful it was to you at that time. I’ve therefore adapted it (and even upgraded it) for DIAMANT.

You will also find in the downloaded folder a method to use another kind of hook than the one recommended: for example, you could sew a 3 rows tall hook rather than a 2 rows tall one!

Diamant, as every pattern from Étoffe Malicieuse, was tested, corrected and enhanced before release.

I therefore thank everyone of those who were beside me during this long project!

Many of them sewed their first bra with Diamant.

It was actually important for me to validate the tutorial with lace sewing beginners.
